The panel was moderated by Timothy Wong, Managing Director, Head Group Research, DBS Bank.

It is becoming increasingly clear how the usual way of doing business has led to growing societal pain and natural resource erosion. But there is a better way of doing business…

Mars Inc has successfully tested the EoM model in varied and extreme business conditions in extremely poor areas and in very rich countries.

“We have almost 20 programmes across the Mars ecosystem. Our work in the poorest slums in Africa and Southeast Asia resulted in the setting up of viable businesses using these principles. These businesses delivered much more holistic value and we are finding that the retained earnings are much higher when we solve the problems of others rather than by trying to maximise the profit for ourselves,” reveals Dr Jakub.

“Similarly, in some of the most mature markets, we are finding as this model starts to orchestrate those solutions at an ecosystem level among stakeholders removing those problems, that those ecosystems – even the very wealthy mature markets with premiumised products – are actually delivering similar types of results. We are pleased with that and believe that we will be able to demonstrate that this is a superior form of value creation in a way that is unassailable.”
