Economics of Mutuality Foundation Leadership Update

July 2026

After more than two decades helping to lead the Economics of Mutuality (EoM) initiative, which began at Mars, Incorporated, Dr. Jay Jakub will step down as Executive Director of EoM Foundation on October 5, 2026. He will continue to support the Foundation as a part-time Senior Advisor.

Jay has been one of the defining voices behind EoM, helping to develop and champion it from its earliest days. He joined Catalyst, then Mars' internal think tank, at the inception of EoM, going on to help establish and lead the EoM Lab at Oxford University's Saïd Business School.

When the Catalyst team spun out from Mars in 2020, Jay became Chief Advocacy Officer of the new EoM organization and went on hold various senior leadership roles across its four entities: EoM Foundation, Mutual Value Labs, the Human Flourishing Foundation, and Mutual Value Investments.

Jay is co-author of the first EoM book, Completing Capitalism, which was translated into Mandarin Chinese in 2018. He was also a contributing co-author of Putting Purpose into Practice: The Economics of Mutuality, published by Oxford University Press in 2021.

On behalf of the EoM Foundation Board, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Jay for his exceptional leadership, vision, and commitment over the past twenty years. His contribution to EoM has been profound, and we are delighted that he will continue to support EoM Foundation’s mission moving forward. We wish him every success in this next chapter.
